A New Beginning

A very warm welcome to the first blog of the new Cardiff Blues Brothers website.

Before I start talking about the Cardiff Blues Brothers and Rugby, I would like to express my gratitude to the NHS, key workers and those at the Cardiff Arms Park that have played a vital role in ensuring that the country keeps safe and running. No matter what role you have carried out and continue to carry out, we are grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you.

It seems like an eternity ago that we last set foot inside the Cardiff Arms Park to watch a game of rugby. However, light now appears to be at the end of the tunnel, with the announcement of the planned re-start of the PRO14. Yes, we will not be able to watch it in person, however it will be great to see the game being played again in Wales.

Last week saw the return of two familiar faces at the Cardiff Arms Park: Rhys Carre and Cory Hill. On behalf of the Cardiff Blues Brothers, welcome home. The past week has also seen the club write to all season ticket holders regarding the outstanding fixtures. Season ticket holders have three choices in regard to the cancelled fixtures that they are not able to attend: refund, credit or support. The Cardiff Blues Brothers appreciate that everyone’s circumstances are different, and many supporters may now find themselves at a financial disadvantage due to the COVID19 outbreak. If you can afford it, please consider the support, or credit option. Based upon recent media publications, it appears that every penny kept within the club and region counts.

As you’re probably aware by now, today marked the launch of the Cardiff Blues Brothers website. We are grateful for the time and kind words of Blaine ‘Captain America’ Scully and all of those that have contributed towards the website. Thanks also to community radio outlets such as GTFM, SW20 and Capital Conflab for the publicity and allowing us to showcase and promote our work.

Currently, the Cardiff Blues Brothers are known for making a lot of noise on matchdays and travelling near and far to support the Cardiff Blues, however it is the community projects that can benefit the most from our existence. We are more than a drum. We are delighted to link up with so many organisations such as MenSheds, Heads above the Waves, State of Mind and Shade to provide a service to those that find themselves in dark times.

Our success in the community can only be achieved by members. If you support our aims and projects, please consider becoming a member. Membership can be purchased through our shop section of this website. In return for your commitment, businesses that have partnered with us in the locality will offer exclusive discounts for our members. More information on these membership discounts will be released at a later date, we are looking forward to announcing them!

Yours in Rugby
