About Us
The Cardiff Blues Brothers roots can be traced back to 2015. It was a tough season for the club, with the Cardiff Blues recording a string of defeats at the Cardiff Arms Park. Support and encouragement could be heard; loyal supporters beating the advertising boards and belting out chants of hope and determination towards the players. These supporters realised that they could drive support for the club through vocal motivation and banded together at the Taff End of the South Terrace on matchdays at Cardiff Arms Park.
It was here that the new beating heart of the Cardiff Blues was born. Since 2015, The drum has resonated for the Cardiff Blues on matchdays; whether home or away. As the years have passed, many memorable moments in the history of the Cardiff Blues were shared. This led to the ‘More than a drum’ initiative being formed.
This initiative was born out of the idea that there was a growing need for match day support and encouragement at the Cardiff Arms Park. The Cardiff Blues Brothers felt that the matchday support at Cardiff Arms Park could become a force to be reckoned with. A passion and noise which is not present at other regions on matchday in Wales, or even clubs in England. Rugby in Wales was unstable, as the future of the regions remained uncertain. It was feared that the next generation of passionate rugby fans may not see the magic of Welsh Rugby at the Cardiff Arms Park.
The Cardiff Blues Brothers decided to take steps to ensure the survival of our heritage in any way possible, and it was decided that a more formal approach was needed. The Cardiff Blues Brothers banded together once more to formalise a committee and approach the club from a more structured platform, endeavouring to do all that was necessary to support the future of our Cardiff Blues.
Going forward, the Cardiff Blues Brothers will continue to develop its good working links with the region to offer suggestions, provide proactive assistance, and advice on developing Cardiff Arms Park and the wider rugby community. The Cardiff Blues Brothers will work with the Cardiff Blues Foundation to ensure that young people in the region are aware of the personal skills that can be gained by participating in Rugby, its benefits and encourage them to attend games at Cardiff Arms Park. The Cardiff Blues Brothers will partner with external organisations to promote issues in society such as Mental Health and Homelessness, whilst working with charities in the region to highlight its work and raise much needed funds.
Membership to the Cardiff Blues Brothers is open to all supporters of the Cardiff Blues, regardless of your background. Membership can be purchased through this website. Alternatively, why not come and see us on a matchday at the Cardiff Blues Brothers Lounge in the Taff End of the South Terrace.
